Quick Tip

Just zooming in from Birthday activities (Adrian is turning 26 today icon biggrin Quick Tip icon biggrin Quick Tip icon biggrin Quick Tip and I am super excited, because I love to give him presents….. icon wink Quick Tip ) to share a quick tip with you!

I don’t know if you work the same way as me, but I need to ‘see‘ my scrap stuff in order to use it on my pages. A few days back I made this little test of embossing powders so I can see the difference between Clear and White on white cardstock – long story short – by accident I found a cool way that helps me to remember techniques and products!

Yesterday I played around with a little flower (Michael’s or JoAnn’s) and it’s so inspirational! I used Glitter Glue, Clear and Silver Nailpolish (silver looks really great!!) and Glimmer Glaze.

I know, the effects are kinda hard to see on this picture, but you get the general idea, right?

Hope this inspires you to try new things and use new techniques on your next project icon biggrin Quick Tip

Woodsy Pillow Cases

When I saw this idea on one of my daily walks in the big dark forest of the internet, I knew I had to make some of those cases myself!

It is actually very easy to make, but takes a few hours if you want to stencil as many trees as I did icon wink 12 Days of Christmas Day 4

You’ll need: Fabric Color (find at JoAnn’s or Michael’s), Stipple Brush, Pillow Case, Cardboard

1. Start out this project by drawing some simple trees on a piece of paper. Cut that out and use it as a pattern on cardboard, trace it and cut out as well. I preferred to use my exacto knife to get those sharp corners of the trees. However, I made only three different shapes – make more if you want a bigger variety.

2. Before you start to paint, lay a piece of cardboard or a bunch of newspaper in between the pillowcase! If you don’t do this you will end up having ugly paint stains on the backside of the case, since the paint likes to go through the fabric…

3. Place your stencils, squeeze out some paint on a plate and start stippling! Use enough paint and always stipple vertical so the edges get nice and crisp.

4. Once you’re done, let it dry at least 24 hours (or see directions of your paint) and have lots of fun with your pillow icon biggrin 12 Days of Christmas Day 4

Christmas in the Air

Today I want to share with you a few really great ways to get that Christmas scent in the air. Of course you can always lit a scented candle, but usually they don’t work that great… But if you want your whole house to smell like Christmas then you should definitely give my brews a try icon wink 12 Days of Christmas Day 2

Orange & Cloves

Ingredients: 1 Orange (Skin), 10 Whole Cloves, Water

Directions: Fill up a pan about half with water and get it to a boil. In the meantime peal the orange (eat the juicy fruit icon wink 12 Days of Christmas Day 2 ) and put the skin into the water. Add your whole cloves and let the brew simmer on small flame. Your house will smell amazingly within short time!!

Hot Apple Cider

Ingredients: Apple Juice, Cinnamon Stick, Whole Cloves, Water

Directions: In a pan, bring about 2 cups of water and 6 cups of apple juice to a boil. Add the cinnamon stick and about 10 whole cloves and let simmer on small flame. Not only will your house smell in the highest notes, but you will have hot apple cider that you can drink and share with your guests! (really really yummy and a great hit at our place icon wink 12 Days of Christmas Day 2 ) This tastes really good also on the second day, after it has been cold overnight. Simply warm up and enjoy icon biggrin 12 Days of Christmas Day 2

Hot Chocolate

Ingredients: Milk, Water, 1 Cup good quality Chocolate Chips, 2 Tablespoons Unsweetened Cocoa, Sugar (if needed), Whipping Cream & Marshmallows (if preferred)

Directions: In a pan mix 1 cup of water, 1 to 2 quarts of milk, chocolate chips and cocoa to a boil. Be careful and make sure it doesn’t overflow! If needed add sugar and serve with whipping cream and marshmallows icon wink 12 Days of Christmas Day 2

Bison

Many years ago – I was about nine or ten years old – my Mom and I took watercolor classes. I loved doing it, but when we moved away I stopped painting.

Around my last birthday I felt like I should pick it up again. Like I said, I haven’t done it in years and it was a risk to buy all that super expensive stuff, just because I had a feeling icon wink Bison However, it was a good move. It took me some time to get back into it and so far I haven’t done anything too crazy – usually simple landscapes with distant mountains, forests and water fronts.

Last night thought I felt like stepping up the game. I found a beautiful photograph of bisons in the winter wonderland Yellowstone and started painting. After a few minutes I almost threw it away. I had NO idea whatsoever how to paint a snowy wall of trees…

From experience I know, that the best paintings are the once I hate in the beginning states, so I painted on and on and on – this is the result.

Sparkle Shoes Tutorial

As promised here the Sparkle Shoe Tutorial icon biggrin Sparkle Shoes Tutorial

Supplies: Glitter, Permanent Glue, Shoes, Clear Gloss Spray Paint and a Brush

1. Start out by painting the shoe with permanent glue. I got mine at Michael’s and you wanna make sure it dries clear and is permanent (in case your shoes get wet on a rainy day) Don’t paint the whole shoe right away, but rather work in small areas so the glue stays sticky.

2. Pour glitter over the sticky area and glue the next section. To be able to use the access glitter later on, make sure you have a piece of paper or cardboard underneath it. Fold that in half and pour the access glitter back into the jar. (I used a cereal box for this step)

3. Once your shoes are bedazzled let them dry for 24 hours or as requested by the glue package. This step was really really hard for me icon wink Sparkle Shoes Tutorial heee

4. If there are some spots still open, fill them up and let them dry again.

5. Once everything is nice and dry spray them with the clear gloss spray paint. This step is very important cause you wanna seal the glitter. Spray once and let dry for about 30min, then go back and spray at least once more. Let dry again for a long time and you are ready to go icon biggrin Sparkle Shoes Tutorial

I have been wearing my glitter shoes for many hours now. Yes, they are my new favorites icon wink Sparkle Shoes Tutorial heeee And I have to say, that I was quiet surprised that the glitter didn’t come right off.
