Fall Page & Card

Hello there! I’m back since Thursday night, from a wonderful trip to Switzerland. It’s really been an amazing time and I’ve so enjoyed to spend time with my family.

Some of the Higlights:

  • Crafting Cards with my mom (she was crafting with paper while I was painting watercolor images…)
  • Going to Europa Park with my best friend Andrea (I’ve only once been on a real roller coaster and I have to say, I’m excited to scream out my soul the next time…. ;) )
  • Snow. Yes, I totally brought winter to my home land! If you’ve been following me on FB or Instagram, you’ve already seen the white, fluffy wonder…

Anyways. I’ve got some BlueMoonScrapbooking projects to share with you :)

First this Layout. I have to say, it’s one of my favorites ever. Don’t know why. Just the way it is. The image is from our latest road trip to the Eastern Sierras, where we went ‘color spotting’ (totally insider lango, meaning, looking for fall foliage..)

And next a little Birthday Card. Since I was too lazy to turn on my Silhouette, I simply drew a speech bubble form directly onto the card and cut it out with my detail scissors. Totally back to the roots, huh ;)

see, super easy! And here’s the result…

Happy Monday :D

Sewn Christmas Garland by Nina
Tis the season for Christmas projects and preparations – at least for those who want to get a head start. ;) And in that spirit I’d love to share with you a tutorial for making some delightful Christmas garlands. I really dig garlands for several reasons: They’re so festive; it’s a great way to use up scraps; they work well as home decor, on scrapbook pages and a million other places and projects.
Also, they’re both fast and easy to make! So grab the following things and let’s get started. You’ll need:

1. The Merry Christmas stamp set by swissgirlDesigns.
2. A sewing machine. (I use the cheap Ikea one and it works like a charm. No fancy settings needed.)
3. Patterned papers/scraps.
4. Circle punches. (I happen to have two but one size circles will do fine. I used a 1.5″ and 2″ Fiskars Squeeze punch.)
5. Inks and acryllic blocks.
Now let’s get stamping! Here I used Frost White pigment ink on kraft. A great look for snowflakes. :) Notice how my papers aren’t even winter/Christmas themed. By stamping these beautiful wintery images on the papers they suddenly transform into something way more fitting for Christmas.
So after stamping and punching we’ll end up with this batch of circles. Depending on what you’re using the garland for (and how far you space the circles apart on the string) you’ll need to adjust the number of circles you make. I’ve made a few for hanging around the house and I used 10-15 circles per garland.
We’re already at the point of assembling this now! So get your sewing machine out and just set it to whatever you usually do when sewing paper.
Tip: Lay out the circles in the order you wish them to be on the garland. That way you can avoid odd-looking repeats of too many of the same patterned/sized circles right after another.
Pull the string a bit long before you start sewing the first circle on, so you have a bit to play with when hanging your garland later on (if that’s your plan). Simply sew straight through the circle.
Once you’ve sewn across the first circle, keep on sewing while you gently pull the circle away from yourself. You wanna keep the string taut so that it doesn’t tangle. Stop sewing once you’ve achieved the right spacing for your taste. Lift the foot and set it down again on the very edge of the next circle you’ll be adding. Then commence the sewing. :)

You see how easy this is? Just keep adding circles and remember to keep the string at the end long (like you did at the start of the garland). This gives you room to play. You could add a jingle bell at the bottom or some other cute bit.
Tada! You’re done and ready to dress up your home, your layout, a gift or something else with a beautiful homemade garland.
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial.

Nina

Today I have the privilege to post some awesome goodness from Janna :D And please give a huge hoot to Mrs. J for doing a VIDEO :D heeee

Let’s get inspired and give the word over to her!

Our dog Sindri is one of my favorite photo models. It´s always a huge pleasure taking pictures of him as he is very patient (or maybe too lazy  ;-) ). For this layout I used the world traveler, cars and balloons, sew happy and merry christmas stamp sets from swissgirlDesigns. If you would like to see how this page was created, you should definitely watch the video ;-) Enjoy!

A Crate Paper Tutorial

Hello Friends! It has been a while since I created an actual photo tutorial, huh ;) Well, today I got one to share with you. In fact, I have to direct you over to the Crate Paper Blog for you to see what I’ve tutorialized ;) (I know, the word is totally made up ;) )

Here’s a little tiny sneak ;)

Now, throughout the summer you will see more of this project of mine. It’s a mini album all about Summer 2012 and I am planning on adding pages every once in a while :) I’m for sure super excited about capturing our favorite memories that way :D

The size is 8×6″

Here the first 3 pages…

Above: The Title Page. I want to keep them similar by using a handful of colors and techniques. My colors are: Yellow, Aqua, Pink, Peach and White. The techniques: Title Cut-Outs (with Silhuette), Glitter Splatters, Boarders, Sewing and Washi Tape

Below: In the Tutorial you can see how I created the background for the CA State Cut Out ;)

Below: Here I created a glitter boarder on the bottom of the page. Simply use your brush with watered down glue to ‘paint’ the boarder and then add the glitter and let dry :) Simple as 1 2 3 :D

Hope you’re enjoying the tutorial :D

And now I’d love to hear from you: Are you capturing your summer months as well and how?? :)

xoxo, Rahel
